Bucks of America Shirt
William Ellery Bucks of America Shirt During the Revolutionary War, there was an all black infantry company in Massachusetts. Nearly no records exist on who they were or what they fought for, as is the case for many black US military companies of the American revolution. The only surviving note is a hand painted silk flag, presented as a gift from the governor of Massachusetts, John Hancock, and his son to one of the company’s members, George Middleton. The flag is currently being preserved in Boston by the Massachusetts Historical Society. While some of the flag has disintegrated, this shirt’s crest is our version of its restoration. They were the Bucks of America. 5.6oz Natural, Combed American Cotton Natural Cotton has tiny flecks and imperfections, just like the soil it's grown in. True to size American grown, cut, sewn, printed and painted. Each shirt is finished with small amounts of hand painting, making each one slightly different.
